Let me take a guess, you just completed research on air duct cleaning, or you received a strong recommendation from a friend, and now, you are looking into a company to do the job. Well, to tell you the truth, you’re doing the right thing.

Because simply having your air ducts cleaned can carry a whole lot of benefits into your home– from reducing the risk of respiratory issues to preventing a chance of a fire.

In other words, it’s great, through and through. So, I’m personally glad that you’re on the way to keeping your home and your loved ones safe! Now, we just need to give you all the necessary information to make your choice.

But before we do that– I need to say that in most cases, as long as the company knows what they’re doing, you’re going to have a good result and a better air duct system.

With that said, let’s take a look at some things to keep in mind!

Five steps for hiring an air duct cleaning company!

1.   Ask for some advice!

Looping back to what we discussed above, if you’re looking at hiring a company off of the recommendation of a friend, then you should absolutely ask them what company they entrusted their air duct system to.

That can save you a lot of trouble, so it’s a good idea to start there if possible.

In the other case, and you’re simply coming off of some research regarding the benefits of having your air ducts cleaned– you can still ask for advice.

Start by talking with friends or family. One of them has most likely had their air ducts cleaned.

2.   Look at the companies in the area!

Do some quick research to determine what companies are in your area. Once you have a good list of companies, start comparing them!

In my opinion, you should start with a thorough look at their reviews– there’s a lot of information in them. You see, all reviews can give you a real insight into what it’s truly like to work with that business. They can answer questions like, “How do they treat clients?” and “Was the final result worth it?”

Those are important questions in the grand scheme of things.

Aside from the reviews, do yourself a favor and take a look at their prices and services while you’re on the research train.

After doing your research, you can most likely eliminate a few options from that first list you drafted up.

3.   Look into how long they’ve been doing business!

Experience matters– a lot. The last thing you want is for a company of rookies to come into your home and break a part of the system. Instead, you want a team of professionals that will ensure your air ducts are left clean, and the job is done right.

The possible damages incurred by the team of rookies can be costly– so it’s best to save yourself the money and ensure the job is done right the very first time.

You should look for some businesses that have been running for more than one or two years.

4.   Speak with the company before making a decision!

Unfortunately, many people don’t do this, and it can lead to miscommunication or a lapse of understanding.

I’d suggest calling any business that you’re considering ahead of time! Tell them about what you need and ask them the basic questions– you can learn a lot from doing that. Pay some extra attention to how they present themselves as a company or how well they explain their services and the process of cleaning your air ducts.

In an ideal situation, you want to hire a company that you get along with and that you won’t mind coming into your home with every once in a while.

5.   Get your contract in writing before you proceed!

This is something that you should do when hiring any business for any job.

If you settle on a company to hire and are ready to start the process, you need to start by asking for the contract in writing.

The last thing that you need or want is for them to flip the script on you and ask for a higher payment or even refuse to do a specific part of the work they had previously agreed on doing.

If you have the payment of the job and the services included in writing, you remove the possibility of that happening– and no matter how slim the chance is, you don’t want to risk it.

The last step… make the leap!

You’ve done all you can, so It’s time to sign the contract and let the professional get to work! And don’t stress! If you’ve followed the last five steps as well as possible, you have nothing to worry about!

I’m confident that you’ll have your air ducts clean in no time. Beyond that, you may even build a relationship with a company that you can count on and recommend to others in your shoes.

If you’re still swaying back and forth on this decision, that’s okay too! You probably just need a little more information before you’re ready to make that commitment. Luckily, you don’t have to look for that information because we have you covered!

The odds are that if you have a question about air duct cleaning, then we have your answers on our blog. So, take some time and read a few more posts! It’ll be worth it.
